Learning and Evaluation Partner for the Health Determinants Research Collaboration (HDRC Portsmouth), a five-year NIHR-funded programme helping to embed research, learning and evidence-informed decision-making across the council. Co-delivered with Hannah Hesselgreaves, Director of the Policy and Evaluation Research Unit at Manchester Metropolitan University.

A series of evidence reviews exploring what existing evidence can tell us about key issues affecting older people, including falls prevention, ageing with learning disabilities and day care services. The work involved synthesising evidence and translating findings into practical implications for Age UK, local Age UKs, commissioners and partners.Helping people make sense of research, data, lived experience and existing learning.

Review and synthesis of learning from around 80 funded projects, alongside the development of an evidence matrix and practical guidance to help teams systematically capture, access and use evidence. The work identified key insights, evidence gaps and priorities for future learning, evaluation and investment. Co-delivered with Jackie Harrison.

Rapid evaluation of the charity’s Falls Prevention Service, including outcomes for older people and impact on hospital activity.

Evaluation of Transforming Care for People Living with Dementia, their carers and the NHS, including outcomes for people affected by dementia and implications for health and care services.

Research, learning and evaluation support for a test-and-learn programme exploring the role of voluntary and community organisations in anticipatory care and preventative support for older people.
