Turning learning, evidence and insight into better decisions, stronger action and meaningful progress
Helping people make sense of what is happening, identify what matters most and decide what to do next.
How I Help
The support I offer is shaped by the questions being asked, the context people are working in and what will be most useful in practice.
There is no single method or framework for understanding complex change.
Rather than applying a fixed method, I help teams find the most useful way forward for their situation.
Grounded in both traditional and developmental approaches to evaluation and learning, I help people use rigorous inquiry, evidence and learning to make sense of what is happening, make better decisions and take informed action as the work unfolds.
And often the challenge isn’t a lack of evidence or insight. It’s turning what people already know into better decisions, stronger action and meaningful progress.
Helping teams make complex change visible enough to discuss, learn from, evidence and act on.
What this looks like in practice
That might mean:
Working alongside teams as a learning and evaluation partner
Designing and delivering evaluations
Bringing together and making sense of different sources of evidence
Developing theories of change and surfacing assumptions
Facilitating learning, reflection and test-and-learn cycles
Whatever the form of support, the aim is the same:
Turning learning, evidence and insight into better decisions, stronger action and meaningful progress.
How I support complex change
I work across four main areas. In practice, these often overlap and are combined depending on what is most useful in the moment.
Evaluation, learning and impact
Helping teams understand what difference they are making and use learning, evaluation and evidence to strengthen decision-making, adaptation and change.
Evidence, insight and sensemaking
Helping people make sense of research, data, lived experience and existing learning.
Strategy, theory of change and direction of travel
Helping teams articulate what they are trying to change, what progress might look like, what conditions might need to shift and how they will learn along the way.
Learning into action
Helping teams move from insight to informed action.
When people feel stuck between intention and action, I help them identify what matters most and decide what is most useful to prioritise, test and learn from next.
Working together
This work is shaped around the realities people are working within.
It is often collaborative and iterative, working alongside people as situations evolve rather than at a distance from them.
The goal is not to add process or complexity. It is helping learning and evaluation become part of how people think, make decisions and act every day.
Let’s find a way forward
Whether you're trying to understand what difference you're making, make sense of existing evidence or work through what to do next, I'd be happy to have a conversation.
