We have put in place security measures to prevent your personal data collected from this website from being accidentally lost, used, altered, disclosed, or accessed without authorisation. 2. Personal information we collect about you when you sign up to our mailing list via our website

• Your name and email address

Cookies served through updates subscription managed by Mailchimp.

We currently host our email mailing list with Mailchimp. Mailchimp automatically place single pixel gifs, also known as web beacons, in every email sent by understanding Value Ltd. These are tiny graphic files that contain unique identifiers that enable Mailchimp to recognize when our subscribers have opened an email or clicked certain links. These technologies record each subscriber’s email address, IP address, date, and time associated with each open and click for a campaign.

How we use this information

When you sign up to our mailing list, you are giving us permission to contact you at the email address which you have provided. We will send you an email to update of any new insights or information as posted on the Understanding Value website. 

Mailchimp use your cookie data to create reports for Understanding Value about how an email campaign performed and what actions subscribers took. We use this information in aggregate to understand what content our subscribers find most interesting and to inform decisions about future content.

How long we retain this information

We hold your email subscription information until you unsubscribe from our mailing list, at which point we retain only your email address tagged as unsubscribed.

Security of your information 

Mailchimp is based outside the European Economic Area (“EEA”) in the US. We have signed a Data Processing Agreement with Mailchimp, who act as a Data Processor for Understanding Value Ltd who are the Data Controller.

As a processor, Mailchimp is required under contract to ensure that any data transfers outside the EEA will be made in accordance with applicable law. To achieve this, Mailchimp has certified to the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield Framework (see their certification here).

In practice, this means that Mailchimp in the U.S. is considered a “safe” recipient of personal data of its customers and their subscribers that is transferred from the EU to the U.S. by offering an “adequate level of protection” for such personal data (as determined by the European Commission). The Privacy Shield remains an adequate data export mechanism under the GDPR (see Art 45(9)).

Your access to this information 

At the bottom of every mailing list email we send there will be information that you can follow to unsubscribe from the list and also to update your information.

You also have the right to request a copy of the information we hold by contacting us using the contact details below.

3. Links to other websites from our own

Third party websites that we link to from our own site will have their own independent privacy policies. We therefore cannot accept any liability for the content or activities of these sites. However, we do want to protect the integrity of our own site and would welcome any relevant feedback about the sites we link to.
